A bolt's strength grade — such as 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9 — indicates the material's tensile strength and yield strength. The higher the number, the greater the load it can bear: grade 8.8 withstands 800 MPa of tensile strength, while grade 10.9 reaches 1,040 MPa. Stainless steel uses the codes A2-70 and A4-80.
